The Ambulance Service Institute award is indicative of Formic's focussed commitment in developing information capture solutions that meet the specific needs of emergency services organisations. In this instance, the mobile solution assisted with the correct procedural diagnosis of Acute Myocardial Infarction, enabling Emergency Care Practitioners (ECPs) to safely administer the thrombolytic drugs at the patient’s bedside, which can induce stroke if the patient is misdiagnosed.

In the Police, Formic’s customised activity analysis solution ensures that information contained in the thousands of activity cards completed by Police Officers each year is quickly and accurately captured and validated before being transferred to financial systems for Activity Based Costing (ABC); an annual exercise that is mandated by the Home Office. Fire Services across the UK carry tablet PCs loaded with Fusion software, enabling them to complete and download Fire Risk Assessment forms electronically.

Whilst the uses found for Fusion vary enormously, emergency services customers all share a common goal; to maximise the productivity of each person they employ. When such a large proportion of annual budgets is committed to paying salaries, it’s easy to see why.
